FAQs
Materials & Safety
What are your bags made from. Are they safe?
Our bags are made from 100% platinum food-grade silicone. They’re plastic-free, BPA-free, FDA-approved, and completely safe for food storage.
So what is silicone?
Silicone is made by combining silica (sand) and oxygen, and has numerous uses including housewares and medical devices. It withstands high heat without warping or releasing harmful chemicals. Our bags use platinum food-grade silicone — one of the highest quality tiers.
Are they suitable for children?
Yes — they’re totally safe for children as they're made from 100% platinum food-grade silicone.
Where are Brighter Goods bags made?
Designed in England, responsibly manufactured in China, and shipped by sea to reduce emissions.
Sustainability & Value
Are Brighter Goods bags eco-friendly?
Yes! They can be reused over and over again, replacing hundreds of single-use plastic bags. Our packaging is fully recyclable and plastic-free.
Isn’t this more expensive than plastic bags?
A single silicone bag costs more upfront, but its cost per use is far lower because it doesn't need to be constantly replaced.
How long do your bags last?
With proper care, they should last for years. They’re sturdy, resist tears, keep their shape, and maintain a strong seal.
Temperature & Cooking
Are Brighter Goods bags freezer safe?
Yes — they’re temperature resistant to –40°C and protect contents from freezer burn.
Are they microwave, oven, and sous-vide safe?
Yes — up to 250°C. Safe for microwave, oven, and sous-vide cooking (yes, you can go full MasterChef). Leave the seal slightly open to release steam. Hot food and liquids can be poured directly into the bags.
Cleaning & Care
How do I clean my Brighter Goods bags? Are they stain- and odour-resistant?
Dishwasher-safe or hand wash with warm, soapy water. Please don't turn inside-out. For more stubborn stains (we're looking at you tomato sauce), leave in direct sunlight for a few hours. For strong odours, soak in a warm water and vinegar bath (1:1). For tackiness, use a baking soda paste (6:2).
Are Brighter Goods bags dishwasher safe?
Yes — or simply hand wash with warm, soapy water.
Can I label my silicone bags with marker?
Yes — the matte side works perfectly with non-permanent chalk markers. Just wash off with warm water.
Usage
Can I see what’s inside the bags?
Yes — they have a transparent front, clear colour, and discreet branding.
How do Brighter Goods bags help with organisation?
They’re slim, freestanding, space-saving, and nestable when not in use (if that day comes). Perfect for fridge, freezer, or pantry storage.
